eBay PowerSeller launches tips and tricks eBook

Michelle Jansen, Australian, e-commerce consultant and stay-at-home mother has just officially launched her new eBay® tips and tricks eBook aimed at seasoned eBay® sellers who want to increase their profits whilst minimising their time.

Currently in version 1.2, the eBook goes beyond many others of a similar genre by giving sound advice on how to take eBay® sellers to the next level.

Ms Jansen has been a seller on eBay® since 1999 and now trades under several id's including helping out her husband – an avid motoring memorabilia collector – with his auctions. However, eBay® is still treated as a ‘hobby' by Ms Jansen and therefore, keeping time to a minimum whilst maximising sales was and still is highly important. Of course, all of the tips and tricks in the eBook are just as useful to the full-time seller.

Thorough research for the eBook was undertaken with the four major sources being:

- Ms Jansen's eBay® own experiences;
- eBay® and its PowerSeller bulletin board;
- Other eBay® PowerSellers; and
- Other web pages and eBay® related web books.

"Managing my own auctions was fine but when it came to helping out my husband with his auctions, it became tedious and time-consuming work.

"I needed to find ways to streamline the whole process and make it much more efficient and quicker. We settled on using eBay's ® Seller's Assistant Pro (as the foundation for our new management strategy) but my eBook explains that there is no ‘best-of-breed' software that sellers have settled upon. I do however; go into detail about the types of functionality and the different sorts of software available given that every seller has slightly different requirements.

Of course, as detailed in the book, it is almost impossible to escape some neutrals and negatives along the way and the first time will no doubt come", said Ms Jansen.

All the tips are outlined succinctly in coloured boxes so they are easy to read. Green is reserved for normal tips with blue for power tips. Packed around these boxes is a combination of rich supporting text, success messages, and helpful links to other sites, products or tools that will aid in the streamlining process.

And Ms Jansen also said, "I've formatted the eBook in ‘landscape' to match the screen dimensions – something many authors forget. Whilst those who purchase it may still want to print the eBook, it is very easily referenced on screen."

One item of particular interest in the eBook is Ms Jansen's encouragement to sellers to ‘go international'. Being an Australian, she is able to share some of her experiences both as a buyer and a seller when it comes to dealing internationally. She says that if it weren't for her international customers, she and her husband wouldn't have many customers.

As an added bonus Ms Jansen is providing a list of shooting star sellers (those with over 10,000 in their feedback profile). It covers 100 such sellers in over 25 categories. She says that using this list and her eBook, sellers can learn more tips and tricks by applying their newfound analytical skills – something that the eBook endeavours to teach.
